Enquire about availabilityHenschke's 2016 Hill of Grace Shiraz is locked up tight behind a stubborn wall of firm tannins. Scents of pencil shavings, mocha, bay leaf, mixed berries and plums appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate starts off broad, expansive and creamy, then draws to a chewy, drying finish. There's ample concentration, length, complexity and a definitive track record of aging, so put this version away for several years while waiting for it to emerge and show its true glory. If you absolutely must drink it now, decanting for a couple of hours helps soften the tannins and brings the fruit forward.
Henschke - Hill of Grace - Shiraz
Henschke's Hill of Grace Shiraz is a wine that truly embodies the essence of the Barossa Valley. This wine is made from grapes grown on a single vineyard that has been producing exceptional Shiraz for over 150 years. The Hill of Grace vineyard is located in the Eden Valley, which is known for its cool climate and unique terroir that produces wines with great complexity and depth.
The taste profile of this wine is truly remarkable. It has a deep, rich colour and a complex aroma that is reminiscent of blackberries, plums, and spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and intense, with flavours of dark fruit, chocolate, and a hint of oak. The tannins are firm and well-structured, giving the wine a long and satisfying finish.
The history of the producer is also worth noting. The Henschke family has been making wine in the Barossa Valley since 1868, and they are now one of the most respected and renowned wineries in Australia. The Hill of Grace vineyard was first planted in the 1860s by Nicolaus Stanitzki, a German immigrant who recognised the potential of the land for producing exceptional Shiraz.
This wine is perfect for special occasions or for those who appreciate the finer things in life. It pairs well with rich, hearty dishes such as roasted meats or stews, and it is best enjoyed in the company of good friends and family. Whether you are a wine connoisseur or simply looking for a special bottle to celebrate a milestone, Henschke's Hill of Grace Shiraz is a wine that will not disappoint.
