Tasting notes

A brooding and complex Barolo revealing layers of dried rose, tar, and iron-laced earth on the nose, with secondary notes of dried cherry, leather, and tobacco emerging with air. The palate is structured and powerful, showing the hallmark Nebbiolo grip of firm, well-integrated tannins and bright acidity. Dark fruit, licorice, and a hint of truffle lead into a long, mineral-driven finish with impressive depth and persistence.

About this wine

Gianni Gagliardo produces this Barolo Riserva from Cannubi, one of the most celebrated single vineyards within the Barolo DOCG in Piedmont. Made entirely from Nebbiolo, it carries the Riserva designation, which under DOCG rules requires extended ageing before release.

Expect the classic Barolo signature: firm tannins, high acidity, and a perfume of rose, tar and dried cherry, with the added depth Riserva ageing brings. Serve at 16-18°C with truffle dishes, braised beef, lamb or slow-cooked game for a pairing that matches its structure and intensity.
