Tasting notes

A beautiful deep golden yellow color with brilliant green reflections. The nose, rich, pleasant and complex, is impressively concentrated with a bouquet of white flowers, citrus, ripe fruit and an exotic hint of mango. After aeration, smoky notes appear. On the palate the wine is remarkable in density and volume. A beautiful aromatic richness dominated by ripe and exotic fruits, mango, pineapple, candied lemon; perfectly balanced by a very present "minerality". The finish is incredibly persistent. This Grande Côte cuvée is undeniably a prestigious Sancerre, full of power, richness and elegance.

About this wine

Francois Cotat is a renowned wine producer hailing from the esteemed Chavignol region in Sancerre, France. With a rich history dating back several generations, the Cotat family has been crafting exceptional wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Grande Cote vineyard.

The story of Francois Cotat begins with his grandfather, Paul Cotat, who first established the family's winemaking tradition in the early 20th century. Paul's dedication to quality and his deep understanding of the land laid the foundation for the success that Francois would later achieve.

Situated on the slopes of the Grande Cote, the Cotat vineyard benefits from a combination of factors that contribute to the production of exceptional wines. The vineyard's south-facing exposure ensures optimal sunlight exposure, allowing the grapes to ripen fully and develop complex flavors. The soil composition, characterized by a mix of limestone and clay, imparts a distinct minerality to the wines, adding depth and complexity to their character.

Francois Cotat follows traditional winemaking practices, emphasizing minimal intervention and allowing the natural expression of the grapes to shine through. The vineyard is cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods, with a focus on preserving the health of the soil and promoting biodiversity. This commitment to sustainable practices not only ensures the production of high-quality wines but also reflects Francois' deep respect for the environment.

The wines produced by Francois Cotat are a true reflection of the unique terroir of the Grande Cote vineyard. Known for their elegance, finesse, and purity, these wines captivate the senses with their vibrant aromas and complex flavors. The Sauvignon Blanc grape, which thrives in the Chavignol region, is the star of the show, producing wines that are crisp, refreshing, and beautifully balanced.

One of the defining characteristics of Francois Cotat's wines is their ability to age gracefully. With their exceptional structure and acidity, these wines have the potential to develop and evolve over time, revealing new layers of complexity and depth. Whether enjoyed in their youth or after several years of cellaring, each bottle offers a unique and memorable tasting experience.

In addition to his flagship Sancerre wines, Francois Cotat also produces a limited quantity of Pouilly-Fumé, another esteemed appellation in the Loire Valley. These wines, crafted with
