Craggy Range - Gimblett Gravels - Syrah

Tasting notes

89Points - The Wine Advocate

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Gimblett Gravels Syrah has a wild blueberry, black cherry and mulberry scented nose with touches of black pepper and baking spices. Light to medium-bodied, it fills the mouth with pepper and spice with plenty of lively acidity and rounded tannins, finishing with great length and freshness.” - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

    Craggy Range

    Onshore Cellars - ICONIC Producer

Craggy Range is a family owned winery established in 1997 and situated in the shadow of the spectacular Te Mata Peak in the premium wine growing area of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand.

Craggy Range produces a collection of iconic wines from multiple regions throughout the country. Owner Terry Peabody and his family pursued the single vineyard approach to winemaking, planting on green fields and bare land ensuring a focus on quality from the very beginning.

New Zealand, with its diversity of soil types offered the perfect location to plant the vines. From the stony, warm soils of the Gimblett Gravels in Hawke's Bay to the volcanic, clay soils of Te Muna Road in Martinborough these exceptional vineyards produce wines with amazing aromatics, purity and complexity.

The wines, produced for the Prestige and Family Collections are pure expressions of the unique terroir in which they were grown.
