Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Kirwan gives up notions of fried herbs, crème de cassis and blackberry pie with hints of mossy tree bark, lavender and oolong tea. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is a tad tart with chewy tannins, while lacking just slightly in the middle and on the finish.
Château Kirwan stands as one of Margaux's most distinguished fourth-growth estates, producing elegant red wines that exemplify the finesse and complexity of Bordeaux's left bank. Located in the celebrated Margaux appellation, the château benefits from exceptional terroir characterized by gravelly plateaus and clay-limestone soils that impart remarkable structure and aging potential to its wines.
This red wine is a classic Bordeaux blend, masterfully combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot to create a full-bodied expression with concentrated flavors and a creamy texture. The winemaking approach honors traditional Margaux elegance while showcasing the depth and complexity these noble grape varieties deliver. At 14% alcohol with medium acidity, the wine balances power with sophistication.
Versatile at the dinner table, Château Kirwan pairs beautifully with lamb, beef, and game birds, as well as roasted root vegetables, mushrooms, and aged cheeses. The wine's structure also complements charcuterie and aromatic spices, making it an ideal choice for fine dining, villa entertaining, or cellar investment.
