The 2021 Fonroque is generous, bursting with aromas of cherries, mulberries and liquorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and charming palate that's fleshy but vibrant, with a gourmand core of fruit framed by sweet, powdery tannins. It's the first vintage produced in the estate's new winery, and that shows in greater harmony and precision.
Château Fonroque is a distinguished Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate located in the heart of Bordeaux's most prestigious appellation. The château produces elegant red wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Right Bank, blending Merlot and Cabernet Franc to create wines of finesse and complexity. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes respect for the vineyard's natural character, resulting in full-bodied reds with medium acidity and notable structure.
This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru showcases the classic qualities of the appellation: a harmonious balance between ripe fruit and mineral undertones, with subtle liquorice notes that add depth and sophistication. The medium alcohol content (12.5%) makes it supremely food-friendly and versatile across a range of occasions. Whether enjoyed at a private villa dinner, fine dining establishment, or during leisurely entertaining at a coastal retreat, this wine pairs beautifully with beef, lamb, venison, game birds, and poultry.
