About this wine
Albert Bichot - Domaine Long-Depaquit - Chablis - Bougros - Grand Cru
Albert Bichot presents this Bougros under the Domaine Long-Depaquit name. It is a Grand Cru white from Chablis, in the northern reaches of Burgundy. Bougros is one of the Grand Cru climats of the appellation, and the wine is dry, Chardonnay-based and built on precision rather than weight.
The nose runs to green apple, lemon zest and wet flint, with crushed oyster shell and white flowers beneath. The palate is taut and saline, orchard fruit and citrus pith held in a linear frame by racy acidity. The finish is long, flinty and mineral, with real Grand Cru concentration under the freshness.
Chablis is Chardonnay country, and its Kimmeridgian soils, chalky and marine in origin, give the wines their saline, mineral backbone. Grand Cru status brings more depth and persistence than village-level Chablis, without losing the appellation's cut and clarity.
Serve chilled rather than ice-cold. This is made for oysters, crab and seared scallops, and it suits a light lunch as well as a long dinner.
