Château Greysac is a prestigious wine producer located in the Médoc region of Bordeaux, France. The estate is situated in the commune of Begadan, which is known for its exceptional terroir and ideal climate for grape growing. The château has a long and rich history, dating back to the 18th century when it was first established by the Urquhart family, who were Scottish merchants. Since then, the estate has changed hands several times and is currently owned by the Agnelli family, who have been dedicated to producing high-quality wines that showcase the unique characteristics of the Médoc region.
The Médoc region is renowned for its exceptional wine production, particularly its red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc grapes. This region is bordered by the Gironde estuary to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, providing a maritime climate that is ideal for grape growing. The well-drained gravelly soils in the Médoc also play a significant role in the production of high-quality grapes, as they provide excellent drainage and help to regulate the vines' water supply.
Château Greysac is classified as a Cru Bourgeois, which is a prestigious classification given to exceptional wines from the Médoc region. This classification is only given to wines that meet strict quality criteria and are considered to be among the best in the region. The estate's vineyards cover 100 hectares and are planted with a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. These grape varieties are carefully selected and blended to create the signature Greysac style, which is characterized by its elegance, complexity, and balance.
The château produces a range of wines, including the flagship Château Greysac, which is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. This wine is aged in oak barrels for
