Pierre Ferrand

Pierre Ferrand is a renowned wine and spirits producer located in the heart of the Cognac region in France. With a history dating back to 1630, it is one of the oldest Cognac houses in the region and has become synonymous with quality and excellence.

The Ferrand family has been involved in the wine and spirits industry for over five generations, and their expertise and passion for the craft can be tasted in every bottle. The small, family-owned business has stayed true to its traditional methods of production, using only the finest grapes from the surrounding Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne vineyards.

One of Pierre Ferrand's most notable products is their award-winning Cognac, which is made from a blend of eaux-de-vie (fruit brandies) that have been aged for at least 10 years in French oak barrels. This aging process gives the Cognac its distinctive smoothness and complexity, with notes of vanilla, dried fruits, and spices.

In addition to their Cognac, Pierre Ferrand also produces a range of other spirits, including rum and gin. Their Plantation Rum is made using carefully selected sugar cane from the Caribbean, and is aged in the Cognac region for a unique and flavorful result. Their Citadelle Gin is a tribute to the traditional London Dry style, with a complex blend of 19 botanicals and a smooth finish.

Pierre Ferrand is also dedicated to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. They use organic farming methods and have reduced their carbon footprint by implementing solar panels and a biomass boiler. This commitment to sustainability can be seen in the quality of their products, as well as their dedication to preserving the land for future generations.

The Cognac region is known for its strict appellation laws, which ensure that only the highest quality products can bear the name. As a result, Pierre Ferrand's Cognac and other spirits have received numerous accolades and awards, solidifying their reputation as a top producer in

Pierre Ferrand

Pierre Ferrand is a Cognac-based producer operating out of the Charente region of France. While the house has roots in Cognac production, they have also developed a line of bartender-focused spirits, most notably their Dry Curaçao, which has become a standard reference product in professional cocktail circles.

Their Dry Curaçao is a triple sec-style orange liqueur developed in collaboration with cocktail historian David Wondrich, designed to replicate the style of 19th-century curaçao liqueurs that formed the backbone of classic cocktails. Unlike many modern triple secs, it incorporates a Cognac base alongside sun-dried bitter orange peels, resulting in a more complex, less sweetened profile with a lower sugar content and a drier finish. This makes it particularly well-suited to historically accurate preparations of drinks like the Margarita, Sidecar, and Corpse Reviver No. 2.

The product sits at the intersection of historical research and practical use behind the bar, reflecting a broader trend among craft spirits producers to revive pre-Prohibition liqueur styles that had largely disappeared from the market during the twentieth century.
