Red wine. Côte Chalonnaise, Burgundy, France. Sustainable. 100% Pinot Noir. From 20-, 35-, and 43-year-old vines planted on clay limestone soils covered with hard marble pebbles. The grapes are 100% destemmed prior to fermentation and aged 18 months in oak barrels (35% new). Red raspberry punctuated by subtle floral, spice, earth, and oak nuances. Refined, middle weight flavors display more evident minerality on the vibrant, intense, and driving flavors that deliver excellent depth and length on the mildly austere finale. Really lovely.

Domaine Michel Juillot is a distinguished family-run winery located in the Burgundy region of France, specifically in the village of Mercurey in the Côte Chalonnaise. Established in 1928, the domaine has been managed by several generations of the Juillot family, with Laurent Juillot currently at the helm. Under his leadership, the domaine has continued to evolve and uphold its reputation for producing high-quality wines.

Domaine Michel Juillot spans approximately 31 hectares of vineyards, predominantly in Mercurey but also in other Burgundian appellations. The focus is primarily on Pinot Noir for red wines and Chardonnay for whites, which are the classic varietals of the region. The domaine is particularly renowned for its Mercurey reds, which are well-respected for their robustness, depth of flavor, and ability to age gracefully. These wines typically showcase the characteristic fruitiness of Pinot Noir balanced with earthy undertones and a well-integrated oak influence.

Lo Chardonnay è l'uva principale per i vini bianchi della Borgogna, con il 48% dei vitigni e il 68% della produzione. Lo Chardonnay apprezza il terreno marnoso della Borgogna, che gli conferisce delicati aromi floreali, fruttati e minerali e sapori corposi. L'Aligoté è la seconda uva bianca, con il 6% di produzione. {Per saperne di più sull'antica uva Aligoté in Borgogna.}
