A blend of 93.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, the wine still has a dark ruby/purple colour and an extraordinarily youthful nose of graphite, black currants, sweet, unsmoked cigar tobacco, and flowers. The wine is rich, medium to full-bodied, but has that ethereal elegance and purity that is always Lafite.

About this wine
Deep garnet-purple in colour, the 2017 Lafite Rothschild (97% Cabernet Sauvignon) opens slowly with restrained notes of blackcurrant, mulberry and chocolate-covered cherries, alongside hints of earth, smoke and florals. Medium-bodied and elegant, the palate builds from a light, ethereal entry to layered red and black fruits with savoury complexity. Fine-grained tannins and vibrant freshness lead to a long, perfumed finish.
