Vinified in stainless steel and large oak vats to finish the fermentation, the 2019 Ried Heiligenstein Alte Reben 1ÖTW Kamptal Riesling offers a pure yet deep and complex bouquet with smoked aromas of figs and dates, vanilla, crushed stones and the purity of Riesling at its very best. Full-bodied, rich and very intense on the palate, this is a crystalline, dense, tight and grippy Riesling that is almost a bit astringent just now, with a very long and tight and salty finish but also a sustainable concentration of (stone) fruit. It is very stimulating, but the wine needs some years to unfolds all its talents. The Alte Reben version is definitely the richer version compared the Lyra, but I hesitate to say it's the better wine. 13% alcohol. Natural cork.
Bründlmayer's Riesling from the Ried Heiligenstein vineyard represents the pinnacle of Kamptal winemaking. This historic estate, located in Austria's Niederösterreich region, has cultivated these old vine parcels for generations, producing white wines of remarkable concentration and minerality. The Heiligenstein site, with its distinctive stony terroir, imparts a distinctive saline character that defines this expression.
This Riesling showcases the full-bodied potential of Austria's most celebrated white grape variety. The old vines produce concentrated fruit balanced by elegant structure and a long, lingering finish. Vanilla and stone fruit notes emerge from careful winemaking that respects the vineyard's natural character. The wine's 13% alcohol and dry profile make it exceptionally versatile at the table.
Pair this sophisticated white with fresh seafood, poached fish, or creamy risotto dishes. Its complexity and depth also reward enjoying it alongside white meat preparations and artisanal cheeses. An essential addition to fine wine collections and a signature expression of Kamptal's world-class potential.
