Tasting notes
Philippe Girard's 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Chatelots Premier Cru is a wine of quiet precision and effortless Chambolle charm. The nose is immediately seductive, delicate red fruits of wild strawberry and fresh cherry open alongside a whisper of violet and dried rose petal, with the faintest trace of forest floor lending an earthy complexity that speaks clearly of its Côte de Nuits origins. On the palate, the wine is lithe and elegant, medium-bodied with a silky, fine-grained tannic texture that is utterly characteristic of this commune. Red cherry, raspberry, and a hint of ripe plum are framed by a gentle mineral salinity and a cool, precise acidity that keeps everything beautifully poised. The 2022 vintage brings generous ripeness without excess, adding a roundness and approachability that makes this already-seductive wine difficult to resist even now.

About this wine
Philippe Girard's Les Chatelots comes from the premier cru climat of that name in Chambolle-Musigny, on Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Pure Pinot Noir, grown in one of the appellation's most perfumed sites, known for silk rather than power.
Expect fine, lifted red fruit, violet and spice, with a texture more satin than grip. Serve at 14-16°C alongside roast duck, venison or game birds, a wine for guests who want Burgundy's finesse without heaviness.
