The Kanonkop 2020 Simonsberg Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Wine is aged for 24 months in French oak, split evenly between new and second-fill barrels, followed by a further two years in bottle before release. The wine shows a seamless through-line of softness and sweetness, with generous dark fruit and polished texture. This extended élevage reflects Kanonkop’s traditional philosophy of slow maturation, shaped by generations of experience rather than market pressure.

Kanonkop is a South African winery located in the Stellenbosch region of the Western Cape. Founded in 1918, the estate is renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon, a full-bodied red wine with intense aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, and tobacco. On the palate, it has a rich, velvety texture with flavours of dark fruit, spice, and a hint of oak. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, giving it a smooth finish.

Kanonkop's Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic example of the variety, and is a great accompaniment to red meats, game, and mature cheeses.
