One of the most renowned wine producers in the world, Château Figeac has been producing exceptional wines in the Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux, France for over 400 years. With a rich history and a commitment to quality, this family-owned estate has become a benchmark for the region and a must-try for any wine enthusiast.
Located on the right bank of the Dordogne river, the Saint-Émilion appellation is known for its clay and limestone soils, which produce wines with a unique complexity and richness. Château Figeac is situated in the heart of this appellation, with a terroir that is perfectly suited to the production of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
The estate covers 54 hectares, with 40 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The remaining land is made up of forests and gardens, giving the estate a tranquil and picturesque setting. The vineyards are divided into different plots, each with its own specific terroir and microclimate, which allows for the production of diverse and distinct wines.
One of the notable characteristics of Château Figeac is its commitment to sustainable and traditional winemaking practices. The estate has been certified organic since 2013, and all work in the vineyards is done by hand, with minimal intervention. This allows for the full expression of the terroir and creates wines that are true to their origins.
The flagship wine of Château Figeac is the Grand Vin, a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a touch of Cabernet Franc. This wine is known for its elegance, balance, and aging potential, with layers of dark fruit, spice, and earthy notes. The estate also produces a second wine, called La Grange Neuve de Figeac, which showcases a softer and more approachable style.
