Tasting notes

Nassitis means ‘islander’ in the Doric dialect used by the first inhabitants of Santorini who lived on the island 4,000 years ago. This wine is a blend of Assyrtiko, Aidani and Athiri. The nose shows an exotic bouquet of tropical fruits, pineapple and mango, followed by peach and apricot notes. On the palate, green apples and peppery herby fruits complement the minerality of the wine. It has a long-lasting feeling - very refreshing!

About this wine

If you're a wine enthusiast, you've probably heard of the Assyrtiko grape variety. It's a white grape that's native to the Greek island of Santorini, and it's known for producing wines with a unique mineral character and high acidity. One of the best examples of this style of wine is the 'Assyrtiko by Gaia' - Wild Ferment, produced by the renowned Greek winery Gaia.

Gaia is a winery that's been making waves in the Greek wine scene since its founding in 1994. They're known for their innovative approach to winemaking, using modern techniques to produce wines that showcase the unique terroir of Greece. The 'Assyrtiko by Gaia' - Wild Ferment is a perfect example of this philosophy.

So, what makes this wine so special? For starters, it's made using wild yeast, which gives it a unique flavour profile. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, and then aged on its lees for several months to add complexity and depth. The result is a wine that's crisp and refreshing, with notes of citrus, green apple, and a distinct minerality.

But what really sets this wine apart is its versatility. It's a wine that can be enjoyed on its own, as an aperitif, or paired with a wide range of foods. It's particularly well-suited to seafood dishes, thanks to its high acidity and mineral character. But it also pairs well with grilled vegetables, salads, and even spicy dishes.

If you're looking for a wine that's both unique and versatile, the 'Assyrtiko by Gaia' - Wild Ferment is definitely worth trying. It's a wine that showcases the best of Greek winemaking, and it's sure to impress even the most discerning wine lover. So why not pour yourself a glass, sit back, and enjoy the taste of Greece?
