Tasting notes

Roku Gin means "six" in Japanese. Six like the number of plants used in its production - Sakura flower, yuzu bark, Sansho pepper, Sakura leaf, Sencha tea and Gyokuro tea - and like the 6 sides of the bottle which is of a particular hexagonal shape. The bottle design is complemented by the rice paper (washi) label, adorned with traditional Japanese calligraphy.Roku Gin was born from the genius of Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory, whose goal was to produce a Japanese distillate made exclusively from natural products from his country. The delicate essence of cherry blossom (sakura), for example, is obtained by vacuum distillation in stainless steel stills, while the intense taste of yuzu is obtained by distillation in copper stills.

About this gin

The House of Suntory, one of Japan's leading spirits producers, has created a unique gin that blends Japanese botanicals with traditional gin ingredients to create a smooth and distinctive taste profile. Roku Gin, meaning 'six' in Japanese, is named after the six botanicals that are infused in the spirit.

The six botanicals used in Roku Gin are Sakura flower, Sakura leaf, Sencha tea, Gyokuro tea, Sansho pepper, and Yuzu peel. Each botanical is carefully selected and sourced from different regions in Japan to create a harmonious blend that reflects the changing seasons.

Roku Gin has a complex yet balanced taste profile, with a floral and citrusy aroma that gives way to a spicy and peppery finish. On the palate, notes of cherry blossom and green tea are complemented by hints of yuzu and sansho pepper.

The House of Suntory has a rich history dating back to 1899 when founder Shinjiro Torii began creating Western-style spirits in Japan. The company has since become known for its dedication to craftsmanship and innovation, using traditional Japanese techniques and ingredients to create exceptional spirits.

Roku Gin is best enjoyed over ice with a premium tonic water and a slice of fresh ginger or a sprig of shiso leaves. It also makes an excellent base for classic gin cocktails such as the Gin and Tonic, the Negroni, or the Martini.

Whether you're a gin connoisseur or just looking to try something new, Roku Gin offers a unique and unforgettable taste experience that is sure to impress. So why not discover the House of Suntory's Roku Gin today and see for yourself what makes this Japanese gin so special.
