Tasting notes

The 2024 Castellare di Castellina Chianti Classico shows bright aromas of wild cherry, red plum, violets, and dried herbs, with subtle hints of spice and earthy Tuscan character. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, with silky tannins, lively acidity, and flavours of sour cherry, cranberry, and a touch of savoury tobacco on the finish. Elegant and well-balanced, it is a classic expression of Sangiovese with excellent freshness and drinkability.

About this wine

Castellare di Castellina is a renowned producer of Chianti Classico DOCG wines, located in the heart of Tuscany in the town of Castellina in Chianti. With a long history of winemaking dating back to the 10th century, the winery is known for its traditional approach to winemaking, using only the finest grapes and carefully controlling the fermentation process to ensure the highest quality wines. The grapes used to make Castellare di Castellina's Chianti Classico DOCG wines are primarily Sangiovese, with small amounts of Canaiolo and Colorino.

These wines are characterized by their deep ruby color, intense aromas of red fruit and spices, and a full-bodied, well-structured palate. They are aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months, giving them a complex and elegant flavor profile. In addition to its Chianti Classico DOCG wines, Castellare di Castellina also produces a range of other wines, including a Super Tuscan blend called I Sodi di San Niccolò, which is made from Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

The winery also produces a range of spirits, including grappa and brandy, which are made using traditional methods and aged in oak barrels to give them a smooth and complex flavor. Overall, Castellare di Castellina is a producer of high-quality wines and spirits that are deeply rooted in the traditions of Tuscany. Its Chianti Classico DOCG wines are particularly noteworthy for their intense flavor and elegant structure, and are sure to be a hit with wine lovers around the world.
