Chateau Beauregard Ducasse
Located in the heart of the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation, Chateau Beauregard Ducasse is a family-owned winery that has been producing exceptional wines for over three generations. This renowned producer is known for its high-quality, terroir-driven wines that truly reflect the unique characteristics of the Graves region.
The winery traces its roots back to the 18th century, when the Ducasse family first acquired the property. However, it wasn't until the 1950s that the family began to focus solely on winemaking, and the estate was officially renamed Chateau Beauregard Ducasse. Today, the estate is managed by Jean-Michel and Dominique Ducasse, who continue to uphold the family's tradition of producing outstanding wines.
The vineyards of Chateau Beauregard Ducasse cover 35 hectares of gravelly soils, typical of the Graves region. The vines are planted with a variety of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, which are carefully tended to by hand to ensure the highest quality grapes. The winery is also committed to sustainable practices, using organic fertilizers and minimal intervention in the vineyard.
One of the standout wines from Chateau Beauregard Ducasse is their flagship red blend, simply named "Chateau Beauregard Ducasse." This wine is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a touch of Cabernet Franc, aged in French oak barrels for 12-18 months. The result is a complex and elegant wine, with aromas of dark fruits, spices, and a hint of tobacco. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, with smooth tannins and a long finish.
In addition to their red blend, Chateau Beauregard Ducasse also produces a white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grapes. This crisp and refreshing wine is aged in oak barrels for 6
Chateau Beauregard Ducasse
Pomerol is a small appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, situated on a plateau to the east of Pétrus and bordered by Saint-Émilion. It produces exclusively red wines and is unusual among Bordeaux appellations for having no formal classification system. The soils vary across the plateau, with clay and gravel dominating much of the terrain, and it is this clay content that gives Pomerol its particular affinity with Merlot, the dominant grape across the appellation.
Château Beauregard Ducasse is a producer based within Pomerol, making red wines in one of Bordeaux's most compact and sought-after appellations. The estate should not be confused with Château Beauregard, a more widely documented Pomerol property; Beauregard Ducasse is a distinct producer with its own identity. Right Bank Bordeaux at this level tends toward wines with plush texture, dark fruit character, and a rounder tannic structure than their Left Bank counterparts.
The inventory includes a 2022 red wine from Pomerol, notably produced from Cabernet Franc rather than the more typical Merlot dominant blend. Cabernet Franc plays a significant supporting role across the Right Bank, it is a key component in many Saint-Émilion and Pomerol wines, and when grown on cooler clay-rich soils it can produce wines with notable floral lift, red fruit character, and fine-grained tannins. Its presence here as the identified variety makes this a wine worth examining for those interested in the grape's expression within the Pomerol terroir.
