Aberfeldy

Aberfeldy is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in the town of Aberfeldy in Perthshire, Scotland. Despite the Speyside classification sometimes associated with its whiskies in commercial contexts, the distillery itself sits within the Highland region on the banks of the River Tay. It was established in the late nineteenth century by the Dewar family, whose blended Scotch brand has long drawn from Aberfeldy as a key malt component. The distillery uses water from the Pitilie Burn, a local stream known for traces of gold from the surrounding hills.

Aberfeldy single malts are typically characterised by a honeyed, rounded sweetness with notes of heather, soft fruit, and gentle spice. The style leans toward approachable and medium-bodied, without the pronounced peat of Islay malts or the sharp fruitiness found further into the Speyside heartland. The 12 Year Old expression is the core release and represents a reliable introduction to the distillery's house character, offering the signature honey notes alongside light vanilla and malt, the result of maturation in oak casks.
