The colour is pale yellow with green reflections, of good intensity. The disc is shiny, limpid, transparent. The wine presents a beautiful youth. The nose is frank, pleasant, intense. Elegant, we perceive a dominant scent of citrus fruits, lemon zest, lemon, white flowers as well as a spicy register of ginger. Aeration amplifies these odors and reveals complex, smoky terpene notes. Despite its youth, Kessler shows an assertive mineral imprint in a crystalline and refined register. The attack on the palate is dense, the alcohol support is full-bodied. We evolve on a strict and sharp environment, marked by pearling. We find the range of aromas of the nose, always dominated by citrus fruits, lemon zest, white flowers, spices, ginger and this complex smoky mineral touch. The finish presents great length, 11-12 caudalies, as well as a persistent frank liveliness. The balance of this wine is resolutely focused on freshness. Incisive and crystalline, it presents an aromatic complexity that is still a little austere and will be at its zenith in a few years.

Domaine Schlumberger is a distinguished wine producer located in the Alsace region of France, renowned for its high-quality wines made from traditional Alsace grape varieties. Established in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger, the domaine has grown to become one of the largest and most respected vineyard owners in Alsace, with over 140 hectares of land, more than half of which are classified as Grand Cru.

The domaine is particularly well-known for its rigorous commitment to sustainable viticulture, having been a pioneer in Alsace for its early adoption of organic and later biodynamic farming practices. The steep vineyards of Domaine Schlumberger, such as those on the Grand Cru sites of Saering, Kessler, Kitterlé, and Spiegel, are worked almost entirely by hand due to their challenging terrain, which helps to ensure the highest quality of grape production.

Domaine Schlumberger produces a wide range of wines, focusing on varietals characteristic of the Alsace region, including Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Muscat. Their wines are celebrated for their intensity, complexity, and longevity, often showcasing a fine balance between fruity aromatics and a distinct minerality. This expression is a direct reflection of the diverse terroirs found within their vineyards. Schlumberger’s wines, particularly those from their Grand Cru sites, are highly esteemed for their depth and precision, making them favorites among enthusiasts of Alsace wines.

Alsace is a region in northeastern France that is known for producing some of the finest white wines in the world. The region has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the Roman era. The wines of Alsace are made from a variety of grapes, including Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Muscat.

The style of production in Alsace is unique, as the wines are made in a dry style, with little to no residual sugar. This allows the natural flavors of the grapes to shine through, resulting in wines that are crisp, refreshing, and full of character.

The region is also known for its sparkling wines, which are made using the traditional method, similar to Champagne. These wines are made from a blend of grapes, including Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay, and are aged for several years before release.

Overall, the wines of Alsace are highly sought after by wine enthusiasts around the world, and are known for their exceptional quality and unique character. Whether you are a fan of dry whites or sparkling wines, Alsace has something to offer for every palate.

The Alsace Grand Cru designation represents the pinnacle of quality in the Alsace wine region of France. Established in 1983, the Grand Cru status is reserved for wines produced under strict regulations from designated vineyards that highlight the unique terroirs of Alsace. These vineyards are situated in specific parcels that are recognized for their superior climatic and geological conditions, which contribute to the distinctive expressions of the wines.

Alsace Grand Cru wines are predominantly white and made from four principal grape varieties: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Muscat. Each variety brings its unique flavor profile to the wines, from the floral and aromatic intensity of Gewurztraminer to the crisp, mineral complexity of Riesling. The wines are known for their precision, depth, and ability to age gracefully, developing rich, nuanced flavors over time.

The Alsace Grand Cru system currently includes 51 officially classified vineyard sites, each with its own distinct characteristics and regulations regarding viticulture and winemaking practices. These sites are often marked by steep slopes that provide optimal exposure to sunlight, enhancing the ripening of the grapes. The soils vary widely across the Grand Cru areas, from volcanic and sandstone to limestone and marl, each adding a unique element to the wine's profile.

Alsace Grand Cru wines are celebrated for their quality and diversity, offering a wide range of styles from dry and intensely mineral to sweet and sumptuously fruity. They reflect the rich cultural heritage of Alsace, a region influenced by both French and German winemaking traditions, and are highly sought after by connoisseurs and collectors around the world.
