A tribute to Madame Clicquot, the La Grande Dame vintage combines the excellence of Pinot Noir with the historic Grands Crus of the House's terroir. The 2012 vintage is of remarkable quality, which perfectly expresses the Champagne terroir. The grapes obtained are of a beautiful maturity and a perfect balance. “La Grande Dame 2012 is both precise and ethereal. This new vintage offers a strong minerality, associated with the freshness of its youth. Its aging potential is immense." Didier Mariotti, Veuve Clicquot Cellar Master The initial notes of white flowers such as jasmine, honeysuckle and vine flowers are felt before opening up to more fruity nuances of apple, pear and peach. Some notes of fresh almond and frangipani complete the bouquet. La Grande Dame 2012, designed by Yayoi Kusama, is an inspiration of his iconographic signatures where we find peas and flowers like a talisman to this Legendary wine.

In 1668, Dom Pérignon is said to have discovered how to make sparkling wine; today his technique is used the world over, although Champagne continues to make some of the finest. France’s most northerly wine region, Champagne is now home to 15,000 growers and 290 ‘houses’. A blend of grape varieties is usually required: white Chardonnay to add fruit and elegance, and two reds – Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – to provide body and backbone.
