About this whisky
Starward is a Melbourne distillery that has built a strong reputation for maturing whisky in Australian wine casks, pushing the boundaries of what New World whisky can be. This single cask release takes that philosophy further, finishing in ex-apple brandy casks under the Antipodes label at a robust 50% ABV.
Expect a whisky with fruit-forward character, baked apple, orchard sweetness and warm spice, given structure by the higher strength. Serve neat or with a small measure of water to open it up. A natural partner to charcuterie boards, aged cheeses or a quiet moment after dinner.
ANTIPODEAN STAR
Ingredients
- 60 ml 2017 - Starward - Single Cask Whisky - Antipodes - Ex-Apple Brandy
- 15 ml Honey syrup (1:1 ratio honey to water)
- 10 ml Fresh lemon juice
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
Method
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
- Add the Starward Whisky, honey syrup, lemon juice, and Angostura bitters.
- Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well-chilled.
- Strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass.
Serve
Coupe glass, garnish with a lemon twist, expressed over the surface of the drink.
