Medium intensity of a vibrant, darkly-pigmented, ruby-red colour. High-toned sour-cherry aromas overlay volatile truffle, mushroom, pepper & cedar aromas. The palate combines mouth-watering acidity, with fine drying tannins. Juicy fruit on the back-palate has spicy/peppery touches & truffle earthiness. The wine is mid-weight with concentrated fruit. Alcohol is slightly warming & the finish long with spicy redcurrant fruit.

Marchese Antinori is a renowned Italian winery that has been producing wines since 1385. Located in the heart of Tuscany, the winery is renowned for its Chianti Classico Riserva. This wine is made from a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino grapes, grown in the Chianti Classico region. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged for 24 months in oak barrels.

The result is a full-bodied, complex wine with aromas of ripe red fruit, spices, and leather. On the palate, it has a smooth texture and flavors of cherry, raspberry, and tobacco. The finish is long and lingering, with hints of vanilla and spice.

Marchese Antinori's Chianti Classico Riserva is a classic Italian wine that pairs well with red meats, game, and aged cheeses. Enjoy this exquisite wine and savor the flavors of Tuscany!

This wine is made exclusively with fruit from the gorgeous Tenuta Tignanello in San Casciano Val di Pesa (home to its namesake wine Tignanello, and Solaia) and sees mostly Sangiovese blended with a smaller part Cabernet Sauvignon and other complementary grapes. The Marchesi Antinori 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori vaunts a smooth and silky personality with ample berry definition and brightness. The previous 2017 vintage revealed more black and purple fruits because of the scorching hot and dry summer that year, but this wine from the cooler 2018 growing season focuses on red raspberry and cherry instead. That fruit is framed by light spice (from Hungarian and French oak) and liquorice.
The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is Sangiovese enhanced with touches of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Renzo Cotarella and the extended technical team at Marchesi Antinori are working hard on perfecting their tannin management, and the beautiful results are evident across this line of new releases from the classic 2016 vintage. The finish is silky and long, and the tannins are never dry. The fruit is evident and bright with wild cherry, rose and Italian garden herb.
The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is Sangiovese sourced from across the 130-hectare Tignanello estate with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot added to the blend. Only 20% of the wine is aged in new oak (barrique and tonneaux from France and Hungary), while the rest goes into neutral barrels. What stands out first is the soft or fleshy nature of the tannins. They are sweet, yet the wine is held together with firm grip and backbone. The aromas are vibrant and dark with mature fruit followed by fragrant rose hip, forest berry and chalky mineral.

Antinori is the most famous name in Italian wine and the influence of Piero Antinori in the last 25 years has been nothing short of revolutionary. Antinori's flagship wine, Tignanello, first appeared in 1971 and caused a sensation by its use of Cabernet Sauvignon in a Sangiovese blend and with its practice of ageing in small French barriques. Antinori was accused of vinous treachery and treason but soon barrique-aged blends of Sangiovese and Cabernet began appearing all across Tuscany.

Italy's most ancient wine region, Tuscany may not be a heavyweight in terms of quantity, but as the home of two of the country's most famous fine wines – Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino – it certainly holds its own in terms of quality. Tuscany's climate ranges from Mediterranean on the coast to continental deep in the Apennines. More than two thirds of the province is covered with hills, an important terroir factor in its fine wines.
