The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru Cuvée Heritiers Latour was one of the more backward wines in the cellar and needs further élevage, but it's certainly promising, exhibiting aromas of cherries, wild berries, rich forest floor and dried flowers. Full-bodied, rich and powerful, it's long, broad and muscular, with ample reserves of youthfully chewy tannin that will round out with further time in barrel.
The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru Cuvée Heritiers Latour was the least advanced of Latour's reds, unwinding in the glass with a reserved bouquet of cherries, cassis, grilled meats, spices, and wood smoke. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample, and layered, with nice concentration and depth at the core, juicy acids and fine but abundant structuring tannins.
Rich and sweetly fruity, this wine wields intense power. Red fruits are initially opulent and pleasurable, but then the wine begins to show solid structure and concentration. The final texture, with its tannins and fruit in harmony, is impressive.

Main grapes:

Pinot Noir originated in Burgundy and these vines cover 34% of the region, accounting for 29% of overall wine production. The red grape does extremely well in limestone and clay soil, which helps create their complexity. Pinot Noir wines from Burgundy range in colour from cherry to brick, are light in body, and typically have red fruit and spicy flavours. Gamay is a red grape also grown in Burgundy, but only makes up 10% of the vines.

Chardonnay is the primary grape for white wines in Burgundy, making up 48% of the vines and 68% of production. Chardonnay appreciates Burgundy’s marl soil, which gives it delicate floral, fruit, and mineral aromas and full-bodied flavours.
