Tasting notes

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a dense, brooding wine. Swaths of mountain tannin wrap around a core of dark red-toned fruit, iron, savory herbs and graphite. The blend is approximately 50% estate and 50% neighbor fruit, including 20% Merlot. This is an especially reticent 2021, but, then again, we are on Atlas Peak. Give this time.

Key characteristics

About this wine

Kongsgaard Cabernet Sauvignon represents a distinctive approach to Napa Valley winemaking, where the estate's philosophy emphasizes balance and terroir expression over extraction. Located in one of California's most prestigious wine regions, Kongsgaard has built a reputation for producing wines that showcase the complexity of Napa Valley fruit with restrained elegance and precision.

This Cabernet Sauvignon displays the full-bodied character and herbaceous notes characteristic of the varietal, with medium-plus intensity and acidity that provide structure and aging potential. At 14% ABV, the wine maintains a refined profile suitable for extended cellaring or present enjoyment. The dry, well-defined palate makes it an excellent choice for pairing with grilled beef, lamb, herb-crusted meats, and richly flavored cheese courses, ideal for fine dining tables and special occasions.
