The recipe is based on notes made by Sir Alexander Walker (grandson of the founder John "Johnnie" Walker). Beautifully bottled in a crystal-grade decanter and rocking box (to stop it falling over on the high seas), this seriously malt driven, fruity and smooth whisky will take your taste buds on a journey though honey, caramel, citrus, red berries and mellow smoke.

The Odyssey's Compass

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Johnnie Walker - John Walker & Sons Odyssey
  • 20 ml Dry Vermouth
  • 15 ml Amontillado Sherry
  • 10 ml Crème de Cacao (white)
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 1 dash Orange Bitters

Method

  1. Fill a mixing glass with large ice cubes
  2. Add all ingredients to the mixing glass
  3. Stir continuously for 45 seconds until the outside of the glass becomes frosted
  4. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into the chilled glass
  5. Allow the drink to settle for 5 seconds before serving

Serve

Coupe glass, pre-chilled in freezer for minimum 10 minutes. Garnish with a single expressed orange peel twisted over the surface and placed on the rim, positioned at the 2 o'clock position. Finish with a single gold leaf applied to the surface of the cocktail using tweezers, placed off-center. Present on a small slate coaster with the cocktail menu card positioned beside the glass.
