Sourced from the Champ*agne lieu-dit, the 2021 Fleurie demonstrates all the luscious qualities that a 2021 could have, with velvety notes of red cherries, spiced plums, crushed purple petals and vine smoke. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has precision and balance with its just-ripe fruit and fine-grained tannins intertwined seamlessly with the tension-driven structure, guided by a backbone of tangy acidity. This interplay leads to a prolonged journey toward a flavorful, tangy finish. This is a spot-on wine from the Foillard team.

Jean Foillard is a renowned wine producer located in the Beaujolais region of France. Known for his impeccable winemaking skills and dedication to producing high-quality wines, Foillard has become a household name among wine enthusiasts.

The Beaujolais region, located in the southern part of Burgundy, is known for its light and fruity red wines made from the Gamay grape. However, Foillard's approach to winemaking sets him apart from other producers in the region. He believes in minimal intervention in the vineyard and the winery, allowing the grapes to express their true terroir and characteristics. This philosophy, along with his use of traditional winemaking techniques, has earned him a reputation for producing some of the best wines in Beaujolais.

Foillard's main focus is on the Morgon appellation, which is known for its deep, full-bodied red wines. He owns several vineyards in the area, including the famous Côte du Py vineyard, which is known for its steep slopes and mineral-rich soils. The combination of the terroir and Foillard's winemaking techniques results in wines that are complex, elegant, and age-worthy.

One of Foillard's signature wines is his Morgon Côte du Py, which is made from 100% Gamay grapes from his Côte du Py vineyard. This wine is known for its deep ruby color, intense aromas of red fruits, and a mineral-driven palate. It has received numerous accolades and high ratings from wine critics, further solidifying Foillard's position as a top producer in the region.

Foillard's commitment to sustainability and organic farming practices is another aspect that sets him apart from other producers in Beaujolais. He believes in preserving the land and its biodiversity, which is reflected in the quality of his wines.

In conclusion, Jean Foillard's wines are a true reflection of the Beaujolais region and its terroir. With

Beaujolais is a wine region located in the eastern part of France, known for producing light-bodied red wines made from the Gamay grape. The region has a long history of winemaking dating back to the Roman times, and it was in the 14th century that the Gamay grape was first planted in the region.

The style of production in Beaujolais is unique, as the grapes are fermented using a process called carbonic maceration, which results in a fruity and fresh wine with low tannins. The wines are typically released within a few months of the harvest, and are meant to be consumed young.

There are three main styles of Beaujolais wines: Beaujolais Nouveau, Beaujolais Villages, and Cru Beaujolais. Beaujolais Nouveau is the most famous style, and is released on the third Thursday of November each year, just weeks after the harvest. Beaujolais Villages is a step up in quality, made from grapes grown in the best vineyards of the region. Cru Beaujolais is the highest quality level, made from grapes grown in one of the ten designated cru villages.

Overall, Beaujolais wines are known for their bright fruit flavors, low tannins, and easy-drinking style. They pair well with a variety of foods, including charcuterie, roasted chicken, and grilled vegetables.
