Tasting notes

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard features stewed plums, blueberry preserves, baked blackcurrants and raspberry preserves with touches of cedar chest, pencil lead, forest floor and smoked meats. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a firm chewy texture and taut, muscular fruit, finishing savory.

About this wine

Heitz Cellar makes this Cabernet Sauvignon from a single Napa Valley vineyard, Martha's Vineyard, one of California's more storied Cabernet sites. The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown and bottled in California at 13.5% ABV.

Napa Cabernet of this calibre typically shows dark fruit, firm tannin and real ageing potential, built for the table rather than early drinking. Pour it with beef, lamb or venison, or set it against a cheese board of cheddar, Gruyère or blue cheese. Serve at 16-18°C, decanted if time allows.
