The Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz, a blend of 46% and 34% of each variety is supplemented by Bordeaux varieties. It has crunchy blackberry and cranberry scents on the nose with just a faint touch of mint. The palate is medium-bodied with toasty black fruit, a little tarry towards the finish, but there is nice grip and length. This is a decent entry-level Bordeaux blend and a friendly price.

Once the grapes are harvested, they are carefully sorted and fermented using traditional techniques, with a focus on preserving the unique characteristics of each varietal.

Hartenberg is perhaps best known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, which is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of the varietal in South Africa.
