A refined Chardonnay from the Brda hills on the Italian border. Aromas of ripe yellow apple, pear and citrus peel are lifted by white blossom and a subtle touch of toasted almond and vanilla. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with a creamy texture balanced by fresh acidity and a distinct mineral thread. The finish is clean and persistent, with lingering notes of stone fruit and light spice.

About this wine
Edi Simčič - Chardonnay
Edi Simčič's Chardonnay comes from the Brda hills of Slovenia, right on the Italian border. It is a single-variety white, made from Chardonnay, at a moderate 13.5% alcohol.
The nose opens with ripe yellow apple, pear and citrus peel, lifted by white blossom and a subtle touch of toasted almond and vanilla. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a creamy texture, held in check by fresh acidity and a distinct mineral thread. The finish is clean and persistent, with stone fruit and light spice lingering.
Brda's hillsides typically give white wines ripe fruit alongside freshness, and that balance shows here: richness of texture without heaviness, and precision rather than excess.
Serve chilled rather than ice-cold, so the creaminess and spice come through. It suits shellfish and white fish, chicken, green vegetables and hard cheeses. It works well at the table for a grilled fish course or a shellfish lunch, and it is equally at home with a simple roast chicken.
