Tasting notes

Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Caillerets is taut, stony and recalcitrant on the nose, and only reluctantly unfurls with wet limestone/sea cave scents. The palate is very crisp and taut, fine mineralité here with a delicate, leesy element surfacing and fanning out towards the finish, with just a hint of spice -- a memento on the aftertaste. This is very fine.

About this wine

Domaine de Montille's Puligny-Montrachet Le Cailleret 1er Cru represents the pinnacle of white Burgundy craftsmanship. This premier cru vineyard, located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, benefits from exceptional terroir characterized by limestone-rich soils that impart a distinctive mineral, stony character to the wine. Chardonnay, the sole grape variety, expresses the site's complexity through a refined, light-bodied profile with crisp acidity and subtle spicy undertones.

Domaine de Montille is renowned for its commitment to traditional winemaking methods and sustainable viticulture. The domaine's philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing the terroir and the grape's natural qualities to shine. The leesy character typical of fine white Burgundy develops through careful aging, adding depth and complexity to the wine's elegant structure.

Le Cailleret pairs beautifully with refined cuisine: fresh seafood, creamy sauces, white fish, and delicate poultry dishes. Its crisp acidity and mineral backbone make it equally suited to cheese courses featuring aged whites and goat cheeses. An excellent choice for discerning collectors seeking authentic Burgundy expression.
