Tasting notes
A richly textured, skin-contact Malvazija revealing deep amber hues with complex aromas of dried apricot, quince, beeswax, and toasted almond. The palate is broad and generous, offering notes of orange peel, saffron, wild herbs, and a saline minerality characteristic of Istrian terroir. Tannins are present yet silky, lending structure to the full-bodied frame, while a long, honeyed finish with lingering bitter almond complexity rounds out this expressive orange wine.

About this wine
Clai's SV. Jakov is a Malvazija from Istria, Croatia, made by winemaker Giorgio Clai in the peninsula's hill country above the Adriatic. Malvazija Istarska is the region's signature white grape, and Clai's version reflects a hands-on, low-intervention approach rather than a polished commercial style. At 14.5% abv, this is a full-bodied white with weight and presence rather than a light aperitif wine.
Expect texture and grip alongside orchard fruit and a saline, coastal edge typical of Istrian Malvazija. Serve at 13-15°C with shellfish, pasta, white or oily fish, and poultry - a versatile white for a galley kitchen working across multiple courses.
