Tasting notes
The 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus is showing very well, unfurling in the glass with a brooding bouquet of dark berry fruit, ripe cherries, warm spices, baking chocolate and subtle soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, deep and muscular, it's rich and powerful, with ripe tannins and a voluminous core of fruit, concluding with a long, heady finish. Bouchard's Frédéric Weber observed that analytically this 2018 is very similar indeed to the 1947 vintage of l'Enfant Jesus, and in its controlled but overt ripeness the analogy seems even more obvious from bottle.

About this wine
Bouchard Père & Fils stands as one of Burgundy's most prestigious négociant houses, with centuries of winemaking heritage and extensive vineyard holdings across the region. This Beaune 1er Cru from the celebrated Grèves climat showcases the producer's commitment to quality and traditional Burgundian winemaking. The vineyard designation "Vignes de l'Enfant Jesus" reflects the historical significance of this parcel, known for producing wines of remarkable depth and character.
Crafted from Pinot Noir, this red wine embodies the elegance and complexity characteristic of Beaune's terroir. The region's limestone-rich soils and moderate continental climate create conditions ideal for developing balanced, nuanced wines. This expression delivers the full-bodied character Beaune is known for, with layers of dark fruit, earthy minerality, and subtle chocolate notes that evolve with proper cellaring.
A versatile wine suited to refined entertaining, this Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with a wide range of cuisines, from roasted meats and duck to mushroom-based dishes, aged cheeses like Brie, and charcuterie. Its structure and complexity make it an excellent choice for fine dining settings, whether aboard a yacht, in a mountain villa, or at an intimate dinner table.
