Château La Lagune is een Grand Cru domein gelegen in Haut-Médoc, de noordelijke appellation van de Médoc-regio in Bordeaux. Het domein produceert rode wijnen in de traditionele Bordeaux-stijl, gebruikmakend van de grindhoudende linkeroever-terroirs die deze prestigieuze regio definiëren.

Haut-Médoc staat bekend om het produceren van gestructureerde rode wijnen, voornamelijk gebouwd op Cabernet Sauvignon, met ondersteunende rassen die diepte en rijpingspotentieel toevoegen. De goed-gedraineerde grintbedden en kleisubstraten van de appellation creëren omstandigheden die geschikt zijn voor het produceren van wijnen met stevige tannines en het vermogen om in de loop der tijd complexiteit te ontwikkelen. De huidige release van Château La Lagune combineert Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot en Petit Verdot in de traditionele Haut-Médoc-verhouding. Deze blendstructuur is karakteristiek voor linkeroever Bordeaux, waar Cabernet doorgaans de ruggengraat vormt, terwijl Merlot het gehemelte verzacht en Petit Verdot kleur en tanninstructuur bijdraagt.

Bordeaux, in het zuidwesten van Frankrijk, behoeft weinig introductie als een van 's werelds beroemdste, meest prestigieuze en meest productieve wijnregio's. De meerderheid van de Bordeauxwijnen (bijna 90 procent van het productievolume) zijn de droge, medium- en volle rode Bordeaux Blends die zijn reputatie hebben gevestigd.

De beste (en duurste) hiervan zijn de wijnen van de grote châteaux van de Haut-Médoc en de Right Bank appellations Saint-Émilion en Pomerol. De eerste is gericht (op het hoogste niveau) op Cabernet Sauvignon, de laatste paart op Merlot.

De legendarische rode wijnen worden aangevuld met hoogwaardige witte wijnen op basis van Sémillon en Sauvignon Blanc. Deze variëren van droge witte wijnen die de beste wijnen uit de Bourgogne (Pessac-Léognan is met name beroemd) uitdagen tot de zoete, botrytische nectars van Sauternes.

Haut-Médoc is a wine appellation located on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France, encompassing vineyards that stretch along the Gironde estuary north of the city of Bordeaux. The appellation regulations require a minimum of 18 months aging before release, and many châteaux employ traditional Bordeaux winemaking techniques including barrel aging.

Haut-Médoc wines generally exhibit the structured, age-worthy characteristics typical of Left Bank Bordeaux, though they often offer more approachable tannins than wines from the more prestigious neighboring communes. The wines typically show dark fruit flavors with earthy undertones, supported by firm tannins and good acidity. Many estates produce wines that represent excellent value within the Bordeaux hierarchy, offering classic Left Bank style and aging potential at more accessible price points than the famous classified growths of adjacent appellations.
