Tasting notes

The full-bodied 2019 Cornas Domaine de Saint Pierre delivers attractive notes of mixed plums and crushed stone. Not overly rich or concentrated, it looks to be an early-maturing Cornas, with silky tannins framing a lingering finish.

About this wine

Paul Jaboulet Aîné is a renowned wine producer located in the Rhône Valley of France. The Domaine de Saint Pierre vineyard is situated in the Cornas appellation, which is known for producing some of the finest Syrah wines in the world. The history of Paul Jaboulet Aîné dates back to the early 19th century when the Jaboulet family started producing wines in the Rhône Valley. Over the years, the family has acquired several vineyards in the region, including the Domaine de Saint Pierre in Cornas. Today, the winery is run by Caroline Frey, who has continued the family's tradition of producing high-quality wines.

The style of production at Domaine de Saint Pierre is traditional and focused on showcasing the unique terroir of the Cornas appellation. The vineyard is situated on steep slopes, which allows for excellent drainage and optimal sun exposure. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure only the best fruit is used in the winemaking process.

The wines produced at Domaine de Saint Pierre are exclusively made from Syrah grapes, which are known for their intense flavour and aroma. The wines are aged in oak barrels for up to 18 months, which adds complexity and depth to the final product. The resulting wines are full-bodied, with notes of black fruit, spice, and a hint of smokiness.

Overall, Paul Jaboulet Aîné - Domaine de Saint Pierre - Cornas is a producer that is highly regarded in the wine world. Their commitment to traditional winemaking techniques and focus on showcasing the unique terroir of the Cornas appellation has resulted in some of the finest Syrah wines in the world.
