An elegant and complex Blanc de Noirs-driven Champagne with a luminous golden hue and persistent fine bubbles. The nose opens with ripe stone fruits, brioche, and toasted almonds, layered with hints of dried apricot, honeycomb, and subtle chalk minerality. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet refined, with a creamy texture, vibrant acidity, and flavors of candied citrus, white peach, and hazelnut. The finish is long, precise, and saline.
Mailly Grand Cru - Les Échansons
Mailly Grand Cru makes Les Échansons in Champagne, a sparkling blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir carrying the Grand Cru designation. It is a Champagne of weight and polish rather than delicate aperitif lightness, at 13% abv.
The colour is a luminous gold with persistent fine bubbles. The nose offers ripe stone fruit, brioche and toasted almonds, with dried apricot, honeycomb and a chalky edge beneath. The palate is full-bodied but refined: a creamy texture, vibrant acidity, and flavours of candied citrus, white peach and hazelnut. The finish is long, precise and saline.
Pinot Noir gives this style its body and depth of fruit, while Chardonnay adds lift and a citrus line. Grand Cru status in Champagne points to fruit from villages carrying that classification, which typically means concentration and chalk-driven tension.
Serve well chilled. It has the richness to carry a table: shellfish, oily fish and pork all suit it, as does a ripe Brie to close.
