Italy Wine

Italy is known for its rich history of winemaking, and one producer that stands out in the region is Tenuta San Guido. Located in the heart of Tuscany, this historic winery has been producing some of the most renowned wines in Italy for over 150 years.

The Tenuta San Guido estate was founded in the 19th century by the Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who was inspired by the Bordeaux-style wines he had tasted during his travels in France. He planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, which were not commonly grown in Italy at the time, and began producing a unique blend that would later become known as Sassicaia.

The region of Tuscany, where Tenuta San Guido is located, is known for its warm and sunny climate, as well as its diverse terroir. The estate's vineyards are situated on hilly terrain with a mix of clay and limestone soils, providing the perfect conditions for growing high-quality grapes.

The appellation of Bolgheri, where the winery is located, was not widely recognized for its wines until the 1960s when Sassicaia gained international acclaim. This prompted other wineries in the region to follow suit, and Bolgheri is now known as one of the top wine-producing regions in Italy.

Tenuta San Guido's main focus is on producing the iconic Sassicaia wine, which is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a full-bodied and elegant wine with notes of dark fruits, spices, and a long finish.

In addition to Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido also produces a second wine, Guidalberto, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese. This wine offers a more approachable and affordable option for wine lovers
