About this liqueur
Campari is a popular Italian aperitif that has been enjoyed for over 150 years. The bright red liquid is made from a secret blend of herbs and spices, which are infused into a base of neutral alcohol. The recipe for Campari has remained unchanged since it was first created in 1860 by Gaspare Campari.
Campari is known for its bitter taste, which is balanced by a sweet aroma and a hint of citrus. It is often served as a pre-dinner drink, either on its own or mixed with soda water or orange juice. The classic Campari cocktail is the Negroni, which is made with equal parts Campari, gin, and sweet vermouth.
The production of Campari is a closely guarded secret, but it is known that the herbs and spices used in the recipe are sourced from all over the world. The ingredients are macerated in alcohol for several days, before being filtered and blended with water and sugar. The resulting liquid is then aged in oak barrels for several months, which gives it a smooth and complex flavour.
Campari is a versatile spirit that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. It is often used as a mixer in cocktails, but it can also be enjoyed on its own, either chilled or at room temperature. The bitterness of Campari makes it a great digestive aid, and it is often served after a meal in Italy.
Overall, Campari is a classic Italian aperitif that has stood the test of time. Its unique flavour and versatility make it a popular choice for both bartenders and consumers alike. Whether you are looking for a pre-dinner drink or a post-meal digestif, Campari is sure to satisfy.
