Château de la Dauphine is a winery located in Fronsac, a small appellation within the Bordeaux region of southwestern France. The estate produces red wines typical of this right-bank territory, focusing on the traditional blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc that characterizes the area.

Fronsac occupies a more compact and hillier terrain than the flatter areas of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion nearby. The appellation is known for wines with good structure and aging potential, often offering more earthy and mineral characteristics than their neighbors due to the iron-rich clay and limestone soils. Wines from this region tend to be moderately weighted, with tannin frameworks that develop complexity over time rather than initial density.

The current range from Château de la Dauphine consists of red wines built from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the dual backbone of Fronsac's winemaking tradition. This combination allows for wines that balance the softness and plum-forward qualities of Merlot with the structure and herbal notes that Cabernet Franc brings to the blend.

Bordeaux, in the southwest of France, needs little introduction as one of the world's most famous, prestigious and prolific wine regions. The majority of Bordeaux wines (nearly 90 percent of production volume) are the dry, medium- and full-bodied red Bordeaux Blends that established its reputation.

The finest (and most expensive) of these are the wines from the great châteaux of the Haut-Médoc and the Right Bank appellations Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. The former is focused (at the top level) on Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter pair on on Merlot.

The legendary reds are complemented by high-quality white wines based on Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. These range from dry whites to challenge the best from the Burgundy region (Pessac-Léognan is particularly renowned) to the sweet, botrytized nectars of Sauternes.
