Tasting notes

The 2023 Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes Pinot Noir opens with pure, red-fruited, floral, and balsamic aromas that blend with a savory, damp-earth note. On the palate, it is lacy and vibrant, finishing on an initially reserved note that awakens with aeration to reveal more depth behind its granular, silty tannin profile. Like most of the Baettig wines sampled, this one continually evolves in the glass and could earn a higher score with additional time in the bottle.

About this wine

Baettig's Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes Pinot Noir represents the distinctive terroir of Traiguen, a compelling wine region in Chile's south-central valleys. This dry, medium-bodied red showcases the elegant characteristics of Pinot Noir, with floral and earthy notes that reflect both the grape variety and the region's cool-climate influence. At 12% ABV, this wine strikes a refined balance, making it approachable yet sophisticated.

The Los Parientes vineyard benefits from Traiguen's maritime-influenced climate and mineral-rich soils, conditions that encourage natural acidity and complexity in the fruit. Baettig's winemaking philosophy emphasizes expressing vineyard character over extraction, resulting in a wine with restraint and finesse rather than heaviness. The medium acidity makes this Pinot Noir remarkably versatile at the table.

Pair this wine with lamb, venison, and grilled meats, or explore its affinity with mushroom-based dishes, roasted root vegetables, and hard cheeses like Parmesan. Its earthy profile also complements tomato-based preparations and aromatic spices, making it an excellent choice for fine dining settings or intimate villa dinners.
