Baettig is a Chilean wine producer based in Traiguén, a commune located in the Malleco Province of Chile's Araucanía Region. This area represents one of Chile's southernmost wine-growing territories, positioned significantly further south than the country's more established wine regions like Maipo or Colchagua Valley.
Traiguén sits in Chile's emerging southern wine frontier, where cooler temperatures and different soil compositions create distinct growing conditions compared to the central valleys. The region's climate is influenced by its proximity to both the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains, resulting in a maritime-influenced environment with significant diurnal temperature variation. These conditions particularly favor cool-climate grape varieties that benefit from extended growing seasons and retain natural acidity.
Baettig's current portfolio focuses on classic cool-climate varieties, working with both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their wines include vineyard-designated bottlings such as "Los Parientes" Pinot Noir and "Los Primos" Chardonnay, suggesting an emphasis on site-specific expressions from their southern Chilean terroir.
