Martell

Martell is a renowned and prestigious producer of Cognac, located in the heart of the Cognac region in France. Founded in 1715 by Jean Martell, the brand has a long history of producing high-quality and luxurious Cognacs that are appreciated worldwide. Onshore Cellars is proud to offer a selection of Martell Cognacs to our customers, showcasing the unique and exquisite flavors of this esteemed producer.

The Cognac region, also known as Charente, is located in southwestern France along the Charente river. It is a region known for its exceptional terroir, with a mild and maritime climate that is ideal for growing the grapes used in Cognac production. Martell is one of the oldest Cognac houses in the region, and its cellars are located in the town of Cognac, where the eaux-de-vie (unaged brandy) are carefully aged and blended to create their distinctive Cognacs.

One of the key factors that sets Martell apart from other Cognac producers is their use of a unique and exclusive grape variety, the Ugni Blanc. This grape, also known as Trebbiano, is known for its high acidity and low alcohol content, making it perfect for creating a light and delicate Cognac. Martell also uses a double distillation process, which results in a smoother and more refined spirit.

The Cognacs produced by Martell are classified as Fine Champagne, meaning that they are made from a blend of spirits from the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne regions. This blend of eaux-de-vie creates a complex and well-balanced Cognac, with a rich and aromatic flavor profile. Some of the most notable Cognacs produced by Martell include the Martell Cordon Bleu, Martell XO, and Martell Cuvée de la Reine.
