From a 16-hectare vineyard on sandy soils on the plain, the 2019 Fonbel is a Merlot-dominant blend complemented by some Cabernet Sauvignon and, since 2004, Carmenère. Offering up aromas of blueberries, raspberries and loamy soil, it's a medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent wine with delicate tannins and a supple, giving profile. Fully 70% is matured in tank to keep the fruit in the foreground.
Château de Fonbel is a distinguished Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate located in the heart of Bordeaux's most celebrated appellation. The château produces elegant red wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Right Bank, where clay and limestone soils impart complexity and finesse to the fruit. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes balance and tradition, allowing the natural character of each vintage to shine through careful viticulture and measured cellar work.
This red wine is crafted from a carefully balanced blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, the classic triumvirate of Saint-Émilion. The resulting wine is medium-bodied with earthy undertones and dry in character, delivering the structured elegance that defines the appellation. At 13.5% alcohol, it achieves excellent balance without heaviness, making it versatile at table.
Pair this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru with beef, lamb, venison, game birds, or poultry. It is equally suited to fine dining service, private villa dinners, or yacht entertainment, where its refined profile and food-friendly nature make it an excellent choice for discerning palates.
