Tasting notes

Pale gold with green glints, this Puligny-Montrachet opens with aromas of white peach, lemon zest, crushed chalk and white blossom, framed by subtle hazelnut and toasted brioche from careful oak aging. The palate is precise and quietly rich, with ripe orchard fruit, a touch of citrus oil and a distinctive wet-stone minerality. Fresh acidity gives lift and tension, while fine lees add creamy texture. The finish is long, saline and elegant, with a gentle nutty echo.

About this wine

Paul Pernot makes this white Burgundy from Chardonnay grown in Puligny-Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune. It is a village-level wine at 13.5% abv, carrying the name of one of Burgundy's most closely watched white wine communes.

Puligny is known for a precise, mineral style: citrus and orchard fruit, a taut line of acidity and a chalky, savoury finish, with white flowers and a touch of hazelnut as the wine settles in the glass. Serve it well chilled but not cold with shellfish, oily fish or pasta in a cream or butter sauce. It also suits Brie and charcuterie on a deck lunch board.
