Tasting notes
The dense purple-coloured 2008 reveals a sweet perfume of blue and black fruits, liquorice, truffles, graphite, and forest floor. With superb concentration, beautiful intensity, an unevolved, backward style (no doubt due to the late harvest and late malolactics), and high, but sweet, well-integrated tannins, this full-bodied, admirably concentrated 2008 should be at its peak between 2013-2028.

About this wine
Clos l'Eglise is a distinguished Pomerol estate producing elegant red wines from the heart of Bordeaux's most prestigious Right Bank appellation. The vineyard's exceptional terroir, characterized by clay and iron-rich soils, imparts depth and complexity to wines crafted primarily from Merlot and Cabernet Franc. This blend exemplifies the warming, full-bodied style Pomerol is renowned for, with perfumed aromatics and subtle liquorice and forest floor notes that develop beautifully with time.
The wine pairs beautifully with rich, savory dishes: beef, lamb, venison, and duck are ideal companions. A full-bodied red of this caliber is equally suited to formal dining occasions or intimate cellar tastings. Clos l'Eglise represents the classic marriage of terroir and tradition that defines fine Bordeaux winemaking, making it an essential addition to serious collections.
