Santa Rita

Santa Rita is a Chilean winery based in the Maipo Valley, one of Chile's most established wine regions located just south of Santiago. The Maipo Valley sits in the Central Valley and is divided into three main areas: Alto Maipo in the Andes foothills, Central Maipo on the valley floor, and Bajo Maipo closer to the coast. This geographic diversity allows producers to work with different microclimates and soil types within a relatively compact area.

The Maipo Valley is particularly recognized for Cabernet Sauvignon, which thrives in the warm, dry conditions and well-draining alluvial soils. The region also produces notable examples of Carmenère, Chile's signature red grape variety that was historically mistaken for Merlot until the 1990s. Carmenère develops distinctive herbal and spice characteristics in Chilean terroir, offering deep color and medium to full body with notes of green bell pepper, black fruit, and chocolate.

Santa Rita's current range demonstrates the diversity possible within Chilean winemaking, spanning from accessible reserva-level wines to premium single-vineyard expressions. Their portfolio includes traditional Bordeaux varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon alongside Carmenère, as well as expressions of Pinot Noir and Syrah that showcase different stylistic approaches within Chilean red wine production.
