Bacardi is a rum producer based in Puerto Rico with a history extending back to the 19th century. The company produces rum across a range of styles, from light to dark expressions, with production rooted in the Caribbean's long tradition of sugarcane-based spirits.

Puerto Rican rum benefits from the island's tropical climate and access to molasses from local sugarcane production. The category is defined by a relatively neutral, clean character compared to rums from other Caribbean regions, though producers vary considerably in their aging and blending approaches. Bacardi's portfolio reflects the breadth of modern rum production, encompassing both unaged and aged expressions.

The current range includes darker aged rums such as Bacardi Carta Oro, which represents the producer's aged rum offerings. These expressions typically undergo barrel maturation that imparts color and developing complexity to the spirit.
