Henschke

Henschke is an Australian winery based in the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley regions of South Australia. The family-owned estate operates vineyards across both valleys, taking advantage of the distinct terroir each region offers for different grape varieties and wine styles.

The Barossa and Eden Valleys represent two of Australia's most significant wine regions, with the warmer Barossa Valley floor particularly suited to robust red varieties like Shiraz, while the cooler, higher-altitude Eden Valley provides ideal conditions for more elegant expressions. These neighboring regions share similar soils but differ in elevation and climate, allowing producers to craft wines with varying intensity and character from the same grape varieties.

Henschke's current range demonstrates their work with both single-varietal and blended wines. Their Mount Edelstone represents a pure Shiraz expression from the region, while Henry's Seven showcases a blend incorporating Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre, and Viognier—reflecting the traditional Rhône-style blending approach that has found success in South Australian terroir.
