Tignanello

Tignanello is a prestigious wine producer located in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. The estate is situated in the Chianti Classico region, specifically in the town of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, just a short drive from the city of Florence. The winery has a long history dating back to the 16th century when it was owned by the Antinori family, one of the most prominent and influential wine families in Italy.

Tignanello is known for producing some of the most iconic and highly regarded wines in the world. Their flagship wine, also named Tignanello, was first created in 1971 and is considered one of the first Super Tuscan wines. Super Tuscans are a category of premium wines that do not adhere to the traditional winemaking laws of the Chianti region, allowing for more experimentation and innovation in the winemaking process.

The Tignanello estate covers a total of 147 hectares, with 47 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 350-400 meters above sea level, allowing for a perfect combination of warm days and cool nights, which is ideal for producing high-quality grapes. The soils in the vineyards are a mix of clay, limestone, and shale, providing excellent drainage and mineral-rich nutrients to the vines.

The winemaking philosophy at Tignanello is centered around the concept of terroir, meaning the unique characteristics of the land where the grapes are grown. The winemakers believe that the grapes should reflect the terroir and express the distinct qualities of the Chianti Classico region. This is achieved by using sustainable farming practices, hand-harvesting the grapes, and carefully selecting the best grapes for each wine.

In addition to their renowned Tignanello wine, the estate also produces other highly acclaimed wines such as Solaia and Marchese Antinori Chianti Class
